Safe driving for off-roading
Once your ride is ready for heading off road, it’s important that YOU are ready! Different terrains require different safe driving techniques. Depending on where you take your Clermont Toyota, keep in mind these off-road safe driving tips for different terrains:
When driving on an unsealed road, your tire tread isn’t able to be in complete contact with the ground. Driving on a gravel road requires reducing your speed and avoid fast turns. When your tread isn’t completely on the ground, your truck or SUV is more likely to slide and you can lose control.
Before you drive on the beach, take a minute to let some air out of your tires. Flattening your tires a bit creates more surface area. Softer and flatter tires allow your Clermont Toyota truck or SUV to drive on top of the sand instead of through it. If you get stuck in the sand, do not attempt to power forward; this will get you stuck even more. Instead, attempt to slowly and carefully back out.
Mud is a deceiving terrain. It may look more shallow than it actually is. Before you attempt to drive in mud, make sure it is shallow enough for your vehicle. If it is shallow enough to drive through, drive a steady speed and do not stop in the middle of a mud puddle. The softness of the terrain can cause your vehicle to easily get stuck if you stop moving.
Snow and ice
Tricky and dangerous, snow and ice requires extreme caution when driving on them. Drive very slowly when on snow and ice. You should also avoid sudden stops, sharp turns, and stopping on any hills.
Don’t take on tough terrains until you and your Clermont Toyota are ready for safe driving off-road! If you lose control of your vehicle, you can put yourself at risk and could end up damaging your vehicle.
