What do these road signs mean?
When you come upon a road sign, they typically are different shapes, colors, and have symbols or letters on them. All of these differences mean or represent something. For example, a yellow sign in the shape of a diamond is a sign that is used to alert drivers of a change in traffic or driving pattern. There are a lot of signs out there! Our Clermont Toyota dealership is defining road signs!
If you come upon a a white square sign with a u-shaped arrow, crossed out in red this means that you may NOT make a U-turn at that point. Whether it’s at an intersection or in a median, it is prohibited to make a U-turn there. However, if you see the same sign WITHOUT the red circle and slash, then you CAN make a legal U-turn.
Coming up on a yellow circle sign with a large black X and two letter “R’s”? This means you’re coming up to a railroad crossing! If you’re approaching railroad tracks, you should begin to slow down. Not only because a train could be coming, but because driving over railroad tracks too fast could cause your tires to lose traction.
A diamond-shaped yellow sign that reads “DEAD END”, means that the road you are on will eventually end. There is no right or left turn, and to leave you will have to make a U-turn.
A white square sign with the letter “P” crossed out indicates that parking at that spot is prohibited. Typically, if this sign is next to a curb, it will have a double-sided arrow on the bottom, which means that you are not allowed to park your Clermont Toyota anywhere on the curb.
